Air Conditioning Repair Boise – The Smart Choice

dirty outdoor coil

For this air conditioning repair Boise we are going to check out your outdoor coil. Your outdoor coil is the coil connected to your unit outside. It’s main job is to cool the Freon back to a liquid so that it can head to your indoor coil and remove more heat from your home. When this coil becomes clogged with dirt, grass or cottonwood, it can not as effectively cool that Freon back down. Here in Boise the cottonwood blooms 3 times a year and makes a mess of coils. To clean this cottonwood don’t try to wash thru the coil as you would with dirt. Use a much steeper angle to push the cottonwood together and off the coil. Trying to wash it thru the coil will only get it stuck half way between.

Use a good nozzle on your hose and wash the coil downward at a step angle until all the cottonwood has left the surface of the coil. Now go back and wash the coil a 2nd time at a 45 degree downward angle to wash any remaining dirt thru the coil. This will allow as much air flow as possible to get thru the coil making it as effective as possible.  Remember it is important to keep your a/c unit free of debris. Anything laying on or piled up next to the a/c can cause lower air flow and give you similar problems. As a general rule the air coming out of the top of you a/c should be about 30 degrees hotter than the outside air temperature. If the air coming out is hotter than that you have an issue somewhere.
