Second thing to check is your igniter. Your igniter does just what the name says, it ignites the gas. Just like your flame sensor your igniter sits in front of the flames in the path of the gas to ignite. When you system starts this igniter will glow a bright orange for about 10 to 30 seconds then as the gas moves through it is ignited by the heat. After ignition the flame then touches the flame sensor and the process continues. If your igniter is bad then you will not get that bright glow, your flames will not ignite and you will get a red light telling you that you failed to read a flame. Often times you can tell when the igniter is bad due to a crack visible in the ceramic, other times you must use a meter to test them.
